Weta Workshop Announces The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Goblin King Statue

Weta Workshop is releasing a new 14-centimeter statue of the Great Goblin from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the striking and memorable chieftain of the Misty Mountains goblins.

Weta Workshop announced the polystone and polyurethane statue of the Great Goblin, which measures 14 cm high, 11.5 cm wide, and 10.5 cm deep, with a weight of 0.52 kg.

Digital sculptor Daniel Holland designed the collectible to capture every terrifying detail of the character’s unique anatomy. Drawing on extensive reference materials that Weta Workshop used during production on the films, the sculptor meticulously recreated the Great Goblin’s sagging, sickly flesh and imposing physical presence with striking accuracy.

The paint application emphasizes the grotesque realism of the sculpt, featuring layers of unhealthy pale flesh, undertones of bruising, and sickly yellow hues that bring the creature to life.

Rough symbols of the Great Goblin’s authority complete the composition: a bone crown atop his deformed head, a knotted wooden staff topped with a composite skull, and dried trophies hanging below as a grim reminder of past victims.

Beneath his feet sits a crooked wooden dais bound with rope and strewn with bones, serving as a fitting base for the self-proclaimed king. Repulsive yet undeniably memorable, the Great Goblin makes a standout addition to any collection.

It remains unknown when pre-orders for the statue will open, how much it will cost, or how long buyers will need to wait until release.
