Wardogs Game Director Joe Brammer Says Balance Will Not Be Fixed by Season Two
While most studios simply adjust game balance in silence while reading player feedback on social media and Discord, the developers of the tactical shooter Wardogs are still searching for the optimal balance.
According to studio head Joe Brammer, this process will take significantly longer than a single season. The team does not expect to completely resolve the balance issues even by the start of the second season.
Brammer’s comments were prompted by a player post noting that the early progression stage of Wardogs is more enjoyable because there are no heavily geared characters equipped with tier 4 armor. The player also stated that they are looking forward to the upcoming progress wipe. Brammer agreed with the observation, noting that the developers intentionally made the first season short because they recognize the need for ongoing balance adjustments.

At the same time, Brammer believes the team’s main mistake was not directly related to balance issues. He explained that balancing any game is initially built on assumptions and is gradually adjusted as real statistics and player experience become available. Therefore, as the Wardogs head emphasized, the developers “won’t even get it all right by season two.”
Instead, he sees the primary flaw in the server system. Brammer called it a mistake not to provide full support for community servers and not to launch official servers featuring infantry combat and level caps.
