The Witcher 3 Remaster Keeps Low-Poly Pigeons Despite Other Changes

The fate of a meme-status pigeon has left some fans worried.

The remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was recently released. Shortly before launch, gameplay footage began appearing online, and some fans grew concerned about the survival of a specific flying bird model. In the presented videos, they could not find the low-poly pigeon that has long become a true meme within the franchise community.

Players such as SERBrator hastily concluded that the developers had removed the meme bird. However, SERBrator later reached out to the community again and admitted his mistake: “I was informed that different models are used for flying pigeons and the ones you can see on the ground.”

In the description of the changes for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster, the developers noted that “a lot of textures and models have been updated based on assets from The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project.” Modder HalkHogan assisted CD Projekt RED with the texture update, and apparently, the low-poly pigeons were ultimately left alone. The patch notes do not directly mention the “pigeon.”
