Vedinad announced that Megabonk is not his debut title.
Vedinad, the creator of the hit Megabonk, has withdrawn his game from consideration in the “Best Debut Indie Game” category at The Game Awards 2025.
I’m withdrawing [Megabonk] from The Game Awards. Being nominated at the TGAs is an honor and a dream, but I don’t believe the game fits the “Best Debut Indie Game” category. I’ve released games before under different studio names, so Megabonk is not my first project. Please vote for any other title in the indie-debut category — they’re all excellent.
The Game Awards 2025 nominations were announced on November 17. Topping the list was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which set a ceremony record with 12 nominations. Close behind were Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei (each with 8 nominations), followed by Hades 2 with 6 nominations.
