‘V for Vendetta’ to be turned into a series

HBO and Warner Bros. Television are collaborating on a television adaptation of the dystopian thriller “V for Vendetta”.

Pete Jackson is set to write the series (his next project is “The Death of Bunny Munro”). Among the producers is DC Studios chief James Gunn (“Superman”). Further specifics about the production have not been disclosed.

“V for Vendetta” is based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore. The best-known adaptation remains James McTeigue’s 2005 film, which starred Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving, with a screenplay adapted by the Wachowski siblings.

The story is set in a future Britain governed by the fascist party Norsefire, and follows an anonymous insurgent who dons a Guy Fawkes mask—a nod to the 1605 Gunpowder Plot—in defiance of the regime.

It was previously reported that “V for Vendetta” will be reissued for international theatrical release to mark the film’s 20th anniversary.
