US Troops Offered Leave to Play GTA VI if They Extend Contracts
A US Army unit is using the upcoming launch of Grand Theft Auto VI as a retention incentive, offering troops extended time off if they sign a contract extension.
Anticipation is mounting for Rockstar Games’ next release, prompting some private companies to approve employee leave in advance. A photo circulating across gaming communities shows that military leadership is adopting a similar concept to support staffing goals.
The memorandum is addressed to all service members assigned to the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion (9th BEB) at Fort Stewart. Its subject outlines a special reenlistment incentive in the form of a four-day pass tied to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.

According to the memo, the four-day pass is scheduled for November 20 through November 23. Leadership designed the incentive to improve unit staffing and raise troop morale.
[…the pass is intended] to establish a special reenlistment incentive program to improve unit manning, enhance morale, and reward the continued dedication of 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion soldiers.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games and parent publisher Take-Two Interactive have not yet announced a release date or launch window for the PC version.
