FromSoftware Significantly Improves Switch 2 Version of Elden Ring Ahead of Release
The Duskbloods will seemingly receive solid optimization after all.
FromSoftware has notably improved the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring compared to last year’s build. The game was originally slated to launch on Nintendo’s new console last year, but the developers postponed the release to avoid compromising the quality of the port. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is now set to arrive on August 28.
Japanese outlets Famitsu and Denfaminico Gamer have shared fresh gameplay footage. The videos show the action running in both docked and handheld modes. Based on the preview footage, the docked experience runs substantially more stably than last year’s build.
While the game does not reach 60 fps, it holds around 30 fps across most showcased scenes. In docked mode, stuttering is barely noticeable even during large-scale boss encounters.
Handheld mode faces a slightly tougher challenge. Overall performance remains acceptable, but occasional frame rate dips occur during boss battles. With about ten days remaining before launch, the developers could still deliver extra optimization through a day-one patch.
