Disney Animation Head Says Kingdom Hearts Movie Is ‘Not Impossible’
Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush has addressed the possibility of a feature-length Kingdom Hearts movie in a comment to IGN, declining to confirm an active project while keeping the door open for the future.
“I’m always curious to know what people are excited about. We have a lot of new projects ahead and different ways to put things out into the world. I’ll just say that nothing is impossible.”
Disney has not officially announced a feature film adaptation. However, the company is already working on an anime series for Disney+ that will feature an original storyline. Franchise creator Tetsuya Nomura and the Kingdom Hearts IV development team are involved in the production.
Square Enix also showcased Kingdom Hearts IV at D23, confirming a release window in late 2027. The developers revealed a world based on the animated film Coco and noted that the upcoming entry will incorporate a concept originally discarded during the production of Kingdom Hearts III.
