The animatronics are set to hunt again in December 2025. The sequel’s creators promise a larger, darker storyline.

Universal has released a new trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Director Emma Tammi brings audiences back into Freddy Fazbear’s shadowy world a year after the events of the first film.

The protagonist, Abby (Piper Rubio), attempts to reestablish a connection with the animatronics, worrying her brother Mike (Josh Hutcherson). Her effort to unravel the history of the abandoned pizzeria leads to the uncovering of old secrets and the rise of new nightmares.

The trailer features the first on-screen appearance of Skeet Ulrich — known for Scream — who portrays Henry Emily, William Afton’s former partner and a co-founder of Fazbear Entertainment. In the original games Henry remained off-screen, guiding players through recorded messages; his on-screen presence here significantly expands the franchise’s mythology.

Earlier, Matthew Lillard, who plays Springtrap, noted that the creative team took feedback from the first film into account and injected more momentum and terror into the sequel. The original became Blumhouse’s top-grossing release, earning $297.1 million, and the studio now aims to surpass that figure.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 hits theaters on December 5, 2025.
