Under player pressure, Ubisoft to update Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora with third-person view

Ubisoft is preparing a substantial update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora — the French publisher unveiled the new feature in a trailer.

December looks set to be especially eventful for fans of the Avatar universe. A major game update will arrive on December 5, 2025, and two weeks later, from December 19, the film “Avatar: Flame and Ash” will begin screening in theaters.

Ubisoft released a trailer highlighting the update’s centerpiece — a third-person camera that fundamentally changes how adventures on Pandora are experienced. For the first time, players will see their Na’vi characters in full.

The new promotional footage showcases the game from this fresh vantage. The camera injects energy and momentum into gameplay, making combat and exploration far more cinematic. Many fans have been requesting this change since launch.

Players previously argued that a third-person perspective would be ideal, but Ubisoft wasn’t prepared to take that step at the time. Now the developers have listened to the community.
