Script Draft for Netflix’s Gears of War Movie Is Complete

The first draft of the Gears of War movie script is complete, director David Leitch said in a recent interview with ScreenRant.

Leitch, who directed Bullet Train, said he hopes the adaptation will lead to more stories in the franchise’s universe:

Jon Spaihts, who worked on Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and on Prometheus, wrote the script. Previous reports said the movie would tell the story of the formation of Delta Squad, Marcus Fenix’s team fighting the Locust. It is not yet known whether the plot will connect to the recently released prequel Gears of War: E-Day, which follows a young Marcus and Dom. Other plot details and the cast have not been revealed.

Netflix announced the adaptation in November 2022. In addition to the live-action movie, the streaming service plans to release an animated series for adults. It is not yet known when filming will begin or when the movie will reach screens.
