Rockstar Policy Could Allow GTA VI Spoiler Videos to Be Removed After Release
Rockstar Games says it may remove standalone videos containing spoilers or in-game entertainment from its games, according to guidelines that some players have noticed ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
As the release approaches, players have been examining promotional materials and the Rockstar Games website. Some recently drew attention to the developer’s article, “Guidelines for Posting Materials That Are Rockstar Games Intellectual Property.” It answers frequently asked questions about posting game content on YouTube and other services and sets out the studio’s position on spoilers.
Rockstar defines spoilers as videos consisting entirely of cutscenes and/or story dialogue, showing a game’s ending, or revealing plot twists. The developer says:
You may show cutscenes if your video also contains gameplay footage, or if it is a walkthrough in which you comment on the action as it happens, but standalone videos of cutscenes from the game are subject to removal.
Content creators who are unsure whether a scene qualifies as a spoiler can contact Take-Two at copyright@take2games.com. They should describe the scene in question and the context in which they plan to show it.

Rockstar also warned that it will remove standalone recordings of “in-game entertainment content.” That includes TV show episodes and comedy performances in Grand Theft Auto, as well as silent films in Red Dead Redemption. The developer says:
We prefer that players experience this kind of content in the context of the world depicted, so all such videos posted separately are subject to removal.
The article on Rockstar Games’ website was last updated in January 2025. Players have only now drawn attention to it, with the next GTA game’s launch approaching.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
