Two Warhammer 40,000 Books Announced: Crucible of Fire and Raptors: War and Shadow

Fans of the Warhammer 40,000 universe will soon be able to pre-order Tom R. Pike’s novel Crucible of Fire and William Crowe’s novel Raptors: War and Shadow, which focus on the harsh adventures of Astra Militarum soldiers and Space Marines.

Publisher Black Library has announced two new books detailing the hardships that defenders of the Imperium must overcome to survive in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Crucible of Fire, author Tom R. Pike’s debut full-length novel for Black Library, follows Astra Militarum Lieutenant Callisto Knight.

When his company is nearly wiped out, he is forced to lead a ragtag group of surviving tanks and their crews on a mission to defend a vital manufactorum. Unfortunately for Callisto, they are not the only ones targeting the complex, as a massive Ork warband is already heading there to plunder it.

As the xenos rapidly approach, the Valhallan officer must arm workers and the wounded in a desperate bid to fend off their attacks.

The second novel, Raptors: War and Shadow by William Crowe, follows a half-company under the command of Lieutenant Chandrel Vois tasked with destroying a tentacle of Hive Fleet Leviathan.

Upon arriving on an isolated world with no hope of reinforcement or resupply, the Raptors’ unorthodox tactics face a severe test when the hunters themselves become the prey. With every bolt shell fired bringing the Space Marines closer to either victory or defeat, the lieutenant faces a stark choice between saving the world or his warriors.
