Following seven months of market presence, the Nintendo Switch 2 is finally expanding its aesthetic horizons. Today, via the Nintendo Today app and subsequent social media updates, Nintendo unveiled two fresh Joy-Con 2 colorways scheduled to debut alongside Mario Tennis Fever on February 12.
A Closer Look at the New Joy-Con 2 Variants

Labeled “Light Purple” and “Light Green,” these upcoming controllers adhere to the design language established by the hardware’s launch peripherals. Rather than a full-body color swap, the new tints accentuate the joysticks and connection rails, while the primary chassis retains its signature dark gray finish.
Until now, early adopters were restricted to the standard red and blue pairing included with the console. This initial lack of variety stands in contrast to the original Switch, which offered both a colorful and a monochromatic gray option at launch. While a minor grievance for some, the introduction of new shades offers a much-needed solution for multi-console households and local multiplayer sessions where identifying specific handhelds can be a challenge. These represent the first official step toward hardware personalization for the new generation.
Potential buyers can currently find pre-orders live on Nintendo’s official storefront. The controllers are priced at $99.99, matching the existing red and blue sets. This premium price point reflects Nintendo’s current hardware strategy, which has seen the console surpass 10 million units sold despite some reports indicating a significant dip in general hardware momentum during the most recent holiday season.
