This long-awaited project is moving steadily toward release.

Chucklefish recently reminded players about Witchbrook. Development on the life simulation game has been underway for roughly 10 years, with the studio first mentioning the project back in 2016.

The game was previously expected to launch in 2025, and the release window later shifted to 2026. Now, the developers of Witchbrook are preparing for a release in early 2027:

We have poured our hearts into every pixel to deliver a hand-crafted project. We look forward to January, when we will fling open the front doors of Witchbrook College to new students and introduce you to the town of Mossport and its residents. Thank you for all your support and patience, especially over this past year. We spent the extra time making a game we are truly proud of. We hope you enjoy diving into our magical pixel-art world as much as we enjoyed creating it.

In Witchbrook, players can attend classes at a magical college and complete assignments in subjects such as alchemy, astrology, potion-making, demon hunting, tarot, and more. Passing exams and earning the required scores will unlock additional spells.

Much like in Stardew Valley, players can build relationships with characters, open their own witch business, and fulfill orders for townsfolk. Seasonal events, cooking contests, and other activities will also be featured in the game. In addition, the creators are preparing a cooperative mode supporting up to 4 players.

You can add Witchbrook to your Steam wishlist via the following link. If nothing changes again, the release will take place on January 28, 2027. The game will be available not only on PC but also on consoles, including PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S, with support also stated for Xbox One.
