Trails in the Sky the 2nd Chapter Sets Sales Record for Nihon Falcom

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter has become the most popular game in Nihon Falcom’s history, drawing a peak of 15,335 concurrent players on Steam and achieving a 96% user approval rating.

Japanese RPGs continue to grow in popularity beyond familiar franchises like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Following the success of last year’s Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter remake, developer Nihon Falcom has quickly released the second installment.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter was released on Thursday for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC. On Steam, the game set a company record for concurrent players with 15,335 users. The previous record was held by the Japanese version of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter at 14,295 players.

Critical and user scores have also been high, with critics giving the game a 92% rating and early Steam users rating it at 96%. For comparison, last year’s release received around 91% from critics.
