Top Gun: Maverick Star Falls for Clair Obscur and Dreams of Starring in Its Film Adaptation

American actor Glen Powell, known for “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Smerch 2”, told attendees at New York Comic-Con 2025 that he can’t put down Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. He admitted he’s become a huge fan of the game and would love to appear in its screen adaptation.

The adaptation of the Sandfall Interactive title was announced in January 2025, even before the game’s release. Production is overseen by Story Kitchen, the studio behind the successful Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise.

Powell is widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors. He is also slated to appear soon in “The Running Man”, an adaptation of Stephen King’s work.

It remains unclear whether Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive can secure an actor of his stature. Meanwhile, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold more than five million copies, surpassing the publisher’s expectations.
