Tom Cruise Approves Paramount and Warner Bros. Merger

Action icon Tom Cruise has voiced his support for the prospective merger between Paramount and Warner Bros.

Cruise expressed confidence in Paramount’s new head, David Ellison, believing he will honor his commitment to ramp up production to 30 feature films per year once the acquisition is finalized.

“I think it’s great. They’re going to be putting out 30 movies. These are my people. It’s not just an industry; the people working at these studios aren’t just employees—they’re family. We have to support one another,”

— Cruise remarked during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. Throughout his long-standing collaboration with Paramount, Cruise has delivered all eight installments of the Mission: Impossible franchise, two Top Gun blockbusters, Vanilla Sky, War of the Worlds, and the racing drama Days of Thunder (with a sequel starring Cruise and Anne Hathaway announced just last week).

The merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. was first revealed earlier this year in a deal valued at $111 million. The transaction has faced significant headwinds, however, due to an antitrust lawsuit filed by 12 U.S. states, which has effectively pushed the completion date to June 2027.

Looking ahead, Cruise is set to appear in the upcoming comedy Digger this October, helmed by Academy Award-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
