Insiders are continuing to reveal new details about the upcoming crossover in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A rumor has been spreading rapidly online that Tobey Maguire might be returning to Marvel. Insider Daniel Richtman claims the star of Sam Raimi’s trilogy will appear in the crossover Avengers: Judgment Day.
Richtman’s report is indirectly bolstered by sightings of Maguire in London last September near Pinewood Studios — the very location where filming for Judgment Day has been underway since April 2025. A fan at the time shared a photo of the actor, drawing attention to his presence.
If the rumor proves true, Maguire’s role would be his second appearance in the MCU after Spider-Man: No Way Home, where his Spider-Man crossed paths with the versions portrayed by Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield.
Richtman also suggests Holland may not appear in the new film. Sources point to the conclusion of No Way Home — when Peter Parker’s identity was erased from everyone’s memory — as a narrative reason that could explain the character’s absence from the battle against Doctor Doom, who is at the heart of Judgment Day’s conflict.
Avengers: Judgment Day is slated to premiere on December 18, 2026.
