The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode Preview

Given the overwhelming critical acclaim and cult devotion garnered by The Wolf Among Us, the protracted hiatus surrounding the franchise has felt particularly agonizing for narrative adventure fans. Following years of turbulent development roadblocks, the highly anticipated sequel, The Wolf Among Us 2, is finally slated to arrive next year. To reignite interest and welcome a new generation of sleuths into its gritty folklore, Telltale Games initially unveiled The Wolf Among Us Remastered during Summer Game Fest. Now, fresh out of Gamescom, the definitive edition has locked in an official worldwide release date: October 29.

Step Into Shadows with the New Noir Mode

Accompanying the release date announcement is a brand-new trailer showcasing one of the remaster’s most compelling enhancements: an optional Noir Mode. This stylistic visual setting transforms the title’s signature neon-soaked, cel-shaded art direction into a stark, monochrome palette. Given how deeply rooted the story is in the smoky conventions of hard-boiled detective fiction, the high-contrast black-and-white aesthetic serves as an exceptionally natural fit for the narrative’s grim undertones.

A Complete, Unified Hardboiled Investigation

Based on Bill Willingham’s celebrated DC/Vertigo comic series Fables, the adventure follows Bigby Wolf—the reformed Big Bad Wolf serving as sheriff of Fabletown—as he investigates a brutal, labyrinthine murder mystery hidden within modern-day Manhattan’s community of exiled fairytale figures. Whereas the classic experience was delivered in five distinct installments between 2013 and 2014, The Wolf Among Us Remastered unifies all episodic content into a single, seamless, polished package.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered will be available on October 29 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
