The King is Watching hits 500,000 sales — new map to release once Slay the Spire 2 hype dies down
The creator of The King is Watching has unveiled impressive sales milestones and detailed a roadmap for the title’s upcoming content updates.
The roguelite strategy sensation, The King is Watching, has officially eclipsed the 500,000-copy mark on Steam. Lead developer Semyon Guriy announced the achievement via his newly launched “Shelushilnya” channel, where he plans to provide transparent updates regarding the game’s ongoing evolution and future prospects.
According to the developer, the vast majority of the player base resides in China. Guriy observed that “the game’s core concepts seem to resonate deeply with their cultural experience.” Meanwhile, the CIS market has contributed roughly 8-9% of total sales—a figure the creator described as “a solid performance.”
Expressing his gratitude to the community, Guriy confirmed that a new free map, “Edge of Madness,” is slated for release once the initial Slay the Spire 2 hype cycle begins to stabilize. Additionally, a premium expansion titled “Crowns of the Past” is scheduled for a March debut. This DLC will introduce three unique monarchs, each featuring bespoke gameplay mechanics, specialized abilities, and exclusive buildings.
