The Hive Protects Its Young: Cosplayer Brings D’Vorah from Mortal Kombat X to Life
Cosplayer Yana “Raccoon Jeffree” Fevraleva set out to showcase the power of insects. She embodied the formidable D’Vorah from Mortal Kombat X — a warrior who pledged her allegiance to Shao Kahn and served as his advisor.
Photographer Elena Vesania and cosplayer Yana “Raccoon Jeffree” Fevraleva revisited Mortal Kombat X and its fans — a blood-soaked franchise that, over 33 years, has spawned numerous games, films, reboots, TV series, comics, and collectible figures.
During the session the model transformed into D’Vorah — a Kytinn, the insectoid humanoid race from the realm of Arnyk.
D’Vorah commands swarms of insects. She can unleash explosive larvae, send packs of ravenous flies at her enemies, or rapidly heal her wounds.
Her body secretes venom and acid, and she also sports extra limbs and wings well-suited for flight. Slaying D’Vorah is difficult — the insects can reconstruct her damaged form.
