Sony Releases PS5 Firmware Update Amid Reports of New Console Exploit
Sony Releases PS5 Firmware 26.07-14.22.00 With Unspecified Security Fixes
Sony has released PS5 firmware version 26.07-14.22.00 to address security vulnerabilities, following recent reports of a new console exploit.
The official changelog lists one fix: “Some security fixes have been made to the system software.” Sony did not specify which vulnerabilities it addressed.
The update arrived shortly after reports of a new exploit for firmware 14.20. Security researcher kuzibelit said they found a way to run third-party code in the PS5’s user space. Using Remote Lua Loader, they executed a payload and launched an FTP server on port 1337.

The console hacking community previously extended support for the Relapse exploit through firmware 13.60. Sony patched the vulnerabilities it used in version 14.00, leaving newer firmware versions unsupported by publicly available hacking methods.
