Bethesda has quietly released a Switch 2 edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim — the Anniversary Edition now optimized for Nintendo’s more powerful console. Originally ported to the original Switch in 2017 (including special Zelda-themed gear), Skyrim’s new Switch 2 build brings a suite of technical improvements alongside the Anniversary Edition’s bundled content.

The Anniversary Edition bundles the base game with all three official expansions and adds Creations Club content. The Switch 2 release upgrades visual fidelity and load times, delivers smoother, more consistent performance, and introduces support for Joy‑Con 2 mouse controls. These enhancements sit alongside Switch‑specific features retained from the prior release, such as motion controls, Amiibo functionality, and the Legend of Zelda crossover items — the Master Sword, Hylian Shield, and Champion’s Tunic.

The Anniversary Edition for Switch 2 is priced at $60. Players who already own the Anniversary Edition on the original Switch will receive the Switch 2 upgrade at no additional cost. If you only own the base Switch edition of Skyrim, a $20 upgrade option is available to move up to the Anniversary Edition and obtain the Switch 2 version.

Skyrim first launched on November 11, 2011, and remains one of the most celebrated RPGs in gaming, holding a Metacritic average around 96. Game Informer awarded the original release a 9.5 in its review.
