The classic game supports various frame rates and modern resolutions.

Players recently revisited the classic 1993 Super Nintendo Entertainment System game Star Fox. Modders announced the public release of alpha version 0.0.4 of Star Fox Enhanced, an unofficial native PC port of the space rail shooter.

The modders reported that this Star Fox Enhanced PC port supports various frame rates, allowing players to choose between 20, 30, 60, 90, 120, 240, 360, or 480 FPS. Meanwhile, the game logic (collisions, damage, animations, bosses, scripts, and more) is calculated at the original 20 Hz frequency.

Gameplay is available across multiple screen aspect ratios: 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, 21:9, and 32:9. Smooth motion is achieved by using interpolation during the image output stage.

The main version of Star Fox Enhanced targets 64-bit Windows operating systems, but build configurations also exist for other platforms, including Nintendo Switch and PlayStation Vita.

The source code for the starfox-enhanced project is publicly available on GitHub in the kandowontu repository. The default setting is 60 FPS.
