SUGA Confirms BTS is Here to Stay for the Long Haul
According to SUGA, the members of BTS are committed to performing and creating music together for the rest of their lives.
In an intimate interview with Rolling Stone released this past Thursday (April 16), the multi-talented artist and producer expressed his firm belief that the group will remain a cohesive unit for decades to come. “I truly believe we can continue this journey well into our 70s and 80s,” SUGA noted, jokingly adding that while their legendary, high-energy choreography might need to evolve as they age, their unity will remain unshaken.
For SUGA, the prospect of life without his bandmates—RM, Jin, Jimin, V, j-hope, and Jung Kook—is simply not an option. “They are genuinely hilarious people. I simply love being around them,” he shared. “I view them as family. I am certain that our enduring success is rooted in the incredibly strong bond we share.”
Following a hiatus dedicated to personal creative pursuits and fulfilling their South Korean military service requirements, the members of BTS have reunited with renewed vigor. When asked if the group ever considered permanently parting ways during their time apart, SUGA dismissed the notion entirely: “Before we entered the military, it was already a given in my mind that we would reunite.”
“I understand why outsiders might find our dedication surprising,” he reflected. “But for us, staying together was always the only natural path forward.”
This candid conversation is part of a special series featuring one-on-one sessions with every member of the group, alongside a collective interview for the publication’s latest cover story. Currently, the septet is deep into a sprawling global tour scheduled through March 2027, celebrating their latest chart-topping album, ARIRANG, which just secured its third consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
During the sit-down, SUGA also took a moment to reflect on his own musical influences, citing icons like Eminem and Kendrick Lamar as pivotal figures who shaped his artistry.
