Subnautica 2 Early Access Buddy System Hotfix 1
Greetings, Subnauts,
A fresh hotfix for Subnautica 2 is now live. This update resolves several localization oversights, refines the movement pathing of the Collector Leviathan in the lower canyons, and squashes various bugs impacting save files, base building, and multiplayer stability.
We deeply appreciate your ongoing vigilance—please continue submitting bug reports and feedback directly through the in-game tool or via our official support portal.
Here is the comprehensive log of changes included in today’s patch:
Localization & Text
- Resolved a bug where specific PDA and Databank entries failed to display their proper translations.
- Ensure newly added Pioneer names (Jegna and Grace) now appear correctly localized in all supported languages.
Bases & Construction
- Items stored on wall racks now accurately refund their resources when using the “Refund Base” feature.
- Fixed an issue preventing exterior furniture from being relocated while playing as a client in multiplayer sessions.
- Purged residual data from the base item spawn system to significantly reduce save file bloat.
- Eliminated lingering base construction ghost outlines that previously remained in save files after construction finished.
- Corrected an offset and erratic flickering bug on the base power transmitter beam, and introduced subtle randomization to its flicker visual effects for a more organic appearance.
Creatures & Environment
- Exploits that allowed players to prematurely break free from aggressive creature grabs have been patched.
- Enhanced navigation pathing for the Collector Leviathan within the lower canyon zones and tightened its collision boundaries.
- Expanded the detection radius for trackers.
- Water Slug breath indicators now exclusively display when the creature exists as a physical entity in the world rather than resting inside a player’s inventory.
- Submarine currents no longer exert force on players while they remain safely sheltered inside bases.
Multiplayer & Vehicles
- Resolved a collision glitch that previously blocked interaction with the Scout Ray chassis carry point.
- Players attached to a Tadpole or Haul now reliably receive continuous oxygen replenishment.
- Restricted inventory sharing while actively piloting a Tadpole.
- Fixed an issue where the inventory-sharing prompt failed to dismiss after driving away from another player.
- Mitigated complications caused by dying while actively sharing inventories.
Save Systems
- Save files now permanently record their build number and branch, preventing incompatible saves from loading into older game versions.
- Corrected a bug where save and version compatibility tooltips failed to render properly.
- Implemented enhanced error logging for save failures (tagged as “Platform write failed for save slot”).
- Removed obsolete save compatibility files that are no longer required on any platform.
General Gameplay & UI
- Fixed a potential softlock that could trigger on the character selection screen.
- Corrected alignment guidelines that previously appeared skewed when viewing distant objects.
- Re-enabled the analytics settings toggle and removed conditional logic that incorrectly disabled it.
- Fixed a bug where “Moonpool shrink mode” failed to properly scan for collisions.
- Added a brand-new subtitle and text string dedicated to the Air Bladder inhale animation.
Audio & Communication
- Resolved a push-to-talk input malfunction affecting Proximity Chat.
Performance & Stability
- Executed various engine and crash-reporting refactors to ensure much more reliable diagnostics.
- Implemented general compilation and build stability enhancements.
Important Reminder: If you utilize mods in Subnautica 2, please remember to temporarily disable, remove, or uninstall them before launching the game following this hotfix. Community-made mods will not be updated instantly and may trigger startup crashes or erratic behavior. Once mod authors release compatible updates, you can safely reinstall and re-enable them.
Please note that this hotfix may take a brief period to propagate across all regions and platforms worldwide.
