Stellar Blade Reportedly Reaches Switch 2 With Free Demo and PS5 Comparisons
Stellar Blade has received a free demo on Nintendo Switch 2, and a comparison with the PS5 version highlights noticeable graphical differences.
Switch 2 owners can test the SHIFT UP game for free before purchasing. However, to run the title on the hybrid console, the developers had to make compromises regarding shadows, reflections, textures, and environmental detail. In certain scenes, the shadows look worse even when compared to the PS5 performance mode.
Reflections are scaled back the most, which is especially noticeable on water. The Switch 2 also culls part of the vegetation and environmental objects earlier, and reduced texture quality makes some locations less detailed.
At the same time, Stellar Blade targets 1080p at 60 FPS in docked mode and 720p at 60 FPS in handheld mode on Switch 2. The exact internal resolution remains unknown.
The 60 FPS is achieved using Frame Generation, and the image is additionally upscaled. The upscaling technology has not been officially named, although the comparison allows for the possibility that DLSS is used. Fluidity is also less than ideal, with occasional frame drops and uneven frame times.
