JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure part 7, STEEL BALL RUN, will stream exclusively on Netflix, according to an announcement from the platform’s official anime account. Netflix Anime shared key art and a teaser confirming that this next chapter in the Joestar saga is on its way.
Initially revealed back in April, STEEL BALL RUN adapts Hirohiko Araki’s seventh part of the long-running manga. On Sept. 12, the franchise received a formal worldwide streaming confirmation from Netflix, accompanied by promotional art and the brief teaser that first appeared earlier this year.
The teaser hints that the series continues from a reshaped continuity. After the events of part 6, Stone Ocean, Father Pucci’s Stand, Made in Heaven, accelerated time in an attempt to usher in a new era for humanity, only to be stopped by Jolyne and her companions—an outcome that forged an alternate timeline. If that sounds like a lot to absorb, prepare: STEEL BALL RUN promises even more audacious twists.
Set in the United States in 1890, the story centers on a cross-country horse race with a $50 million prize at stake. This is no lighthearted competition: expect bizarre Stand abilities alongside a different combat system, the Spin, which echoes the Hamon technique from JoJo’s earliest arcs. The adaptation will introduce fresh takes on familiar figures and launch a new era for the series (the manga is currently serializing part 9, The JOJOLands).
Studio David Production is on board again for the adaptation, with Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi—who directed on part 5, Golden Wind—returning to helm the project. Their involvement should reassure longtime viewers about the production’s stewardship.
No official premiere date has been announced; the promotional poster lists the release as “coming soon.” Additional details are slated to be revealed during a global livestream scheduled for Sept. 23, so fans should stay tuned for further updates.
