After a prolonged period of silence, Undead Labs has finally re-emerged with a bold look at State of Decay 3. During the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, the studio provided an extensive glimpse into the sequel’s intense survival gameplay and officially confirmed a 2027 release window. You can witness the visceral co-op action for yourself in the new trailer below.
The latest footage transitions seamlessly from breathtaking, atmospheric rural vistas to high-octane combat and collaborative base-building. Players can expect to ram through undead swarms in tactical vehicles, synchronize strikes to dismantle grotesque nests, and engage in relentless, fast-paced skirmishes. The trailer also highlighted a terrifying variety of specialized zombies, including bloated, fire-breathing mutations and massive, pulsing flesh-nests.
State of Decay 3 is slated for arrival in 2027, launching on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and—in an exciting expansion for the series—PlayStation 5.
