The comic book blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially surpassed James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water in global box office earnings. With this milestone, the Sony and Marvel collaboration has secured its place as the third highest-grossing film in cinematic history.

Brand New Day has amassed a staggering $2.332 billion, eclipsing the $2.232 billion record previously held by The Way of Water. Only the original Avatar ($2.923 billion) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.798 billion) remain ahead on the all-time list, with the web-slinger having already overtaken Titanic earlier in its run.

The fourth installment of Peter Parker’s journey, starring Tom Holland, pulled in $891 million in North America—marking the second-highest domestic gross in history, trailing only Star Wars: The Force Awakens—alongside $1.44 billion from international markets. Unofficial screenings in Russia have contributed at least 890 million rubles to the total.

This remarkable performance has propelled Tom Holland to third place among the highest-grossing actors of all time. He currently trails only his Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars, Zoe Saldaña and Scarlett Johansson, in the rankings.
