“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” Eyes Historic Record
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has secured the top spot at the North American box office for the fourth consecutive weekend, successfully fending off the debut of “Insidious 6.” The Tom Holland-led blockbuster remains the season’s dominant force, while the horror sequel “Insidious 6: They Are Here” saw a more modest opening than industry analysts had anticipated.
Early estimates indicate that “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” grossed approximately $70 million across the U.S. and Canada this weekend. The film’s marginal week-over-week decline is remarkably low for a production well into its theatrical run, further cementing its extraordinary staying power.
“Insidious 6” premiered with about $25 million in North America, landing in second place. While it claimed the top spot among the weekend’s newcomers, the performance fell short of studio projections, even with the inclusion of $3 million earned from early preview screenings.
Meanwhile, “Brand New Day” continues to approach historic milestones. Having shattered the $2 billion mark in worldwide ticket sales in just three weeks, it now ranks among the fastest films in cinematic history to achieve such a feat.
Now in its fourth week, “Spider-Man” maintains significantly higher audience demand than its rivals. Although “Insidious 6” managed to outperform other new releases, it was unable to displace the reigning champion from the pinnacle of the charts.
