sombr Pauses Show to Reprimand Venue Staff After Fan Faints: ‘You Need to Pay Attention’

During a recent performance in London, rising pop star sombr abruptly halted his set to reprimand event security after a concertgoer appeared to lose consciousness in the crowd without receiving immediate assistance.
The incident took place at the O2 Academy Brixton while the Gen Z artist was performing his viral hit, “Back to Friends.” According to social media footage captured by attendees, sombr signaled his band to stop playing before addressing the venue staff directly. “Stop the show,” he commanded. “There is someone passed out over there, and you need to pay attention.”
Clearly frustrated by the lack of responsiveness, the singer-songwriter shared a sharp critique of the facility’s operations. “This is honestly the most poorly managed venue I’ve ever encountered,” he told the crowd. He noted that despite having played three consecutive nights at the location, the lack of organization remained a significant concern, calling the situation “insane.”
Before resuming the concert, sombr ensured the safety of his audience, telling the room, “Let me know when everyone is good to go.” Representatives for both the artist and the O2 Academy Brixton have been contacted for comment regarding the incident.
Currently, sombr is navigating a European tour with scheduled appearances in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Dublin. His momentum is expected to carry into the summer festival circuit, where he is slated to perform at high-profile events including Coachella and BottleRock Napa Valley.
This mid-set interruption follows a different kind of headline-grabbing moment for the New York native. During the BRIT Awards, a staged “altercation” occurred while he was performing “Undressed,” involving a man wearing a shirt that labeled the singer a “homewrecker.” The moment was later revealed to be a calculated promotional stunt for his latest single, “Homewrecker,” which recently made its debut on the Hot 100 at No. 26.
Despite his grievances with the venue’s management, sombr expressed deep gratitude for his UK fanbase. In a follow-up post on his Instagram Story, he shared a video of the London audience with a heartfelt caption: “I love you so much. Thank you for making these past three nights unforgettable. London, I’ll be back.”
