Solo” Star to Appear in New “Miami Vice

Alden Ehrenreich has secured a role in Miami Vice ’85, a feature-length reimagining of the iconic 1980s crime drama. According to Deadline, the actor joins a star-studded ensemble that already includes Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in the lead roles. Specific details regarding Ehrenreich’s character remain under wraps.

The film centers on the legendary duo of Sonny Crockett and Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs, portrayed respectively by Butler and Jordan. Set against the backdrop of mid-1980s Miami, the narrative draws inspiration from the original series’ feature-length pilot, which follows Tubbs as he travels from New York to Florida to track down a drug kingpin, eventually forming an uneasy partnership with local detective Crockett.

Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick, is set to direct. The screenplay is penned by Dan Gilroy, while original series creator Michael Mann serves as an executive producer.

Miami Vice ’85 is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 19, 2028.
