Skate, the free successor to Skate 3 that celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2025, has already amassed 15 million players. On October 7, 2025, the game received an update that ushers in its first content season.
The developers published the complete patch notes. The city has been refreshed to better reflect the season’s aesthetic, and new trick locations have been added — the largest sites are dubbed The Orb and The Skateway. The update introduces 40 new challenges, and the soundtrack has been expanded with 21 tracks that harken back to the ’90s, including songs from Bad Religion, Sonic Youth, and Jane’s Addiction.
As promised, two seasonal events will arrive: Skate‑O‑Ween (late October) and 7‑Ply Maple Harvest (November). The update also debuts the skate.Pass in both standard and premium editions. Rewards are unlocked using the in‑game currency Tix, and the system follows the seasonal-pass model seen in Helldivers 2. The first season marks the start of regular live‑service style updates.
The team highlighted the milestone on X, noting the 15 million players. Since early access, Skate has provoked mixed reactions — critics have targeted its live‑service design and an art style some feel is distant from core skate culture. Currently 66% of Steam reviews are positive, corresponding to an overall “mixed” reception.
EA continues to support the project. The game launched on September 16, 2025 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Versions for Android and iOS are planned for the future.
