God of War Creator Comments on Potential Ninja Theory Closure
David Jaffe considers Xbox’s desire to shut down a studio that has barely accomplished anything over the past few years to be entirely logical.
Game designer, producer, and writer David Jaffe, creator of the God of War and Twisted Metal series, has once again shared his opinion on various events in the gaming industry.
This time, Jaffe commented on the potential closure of Ninja Theory, a studio for which Microsoft was ultimately unable to find a buyer.
In my view, the tragedy of Ninja Theory is that they believed in their own illusions: they stopped being mere creators of entertainment and fancied themselves ‘artists with something to say to the world’… and the market reacted in a corresponding and entirely predictable manner.

Ninja Theory’s last games were the poorly received Bleeding Edge, released in 2020, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, which many referred to as a beautiful Unreal Engine 5 tech demo. The studio was also working on Project: Mara, but the project was canceled in June of this year.
