Chainsaw Man brought Tatsuki Fujimoto international recognition, but his output extends well beyond that single work. An upcoming anthology titled “Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26” will collect the author’s early pieces.
Shikaku, a short anime film about a young contract killer hired to eliminate her own client, won the Audience Choice Award in the short film category at the 2025 Bucheon International Animation Festival in South Korea.
The film is part of the forthcoming anthology “Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26,” which gathers eight short stories the creator wrote between the ages of 17 and 26. The collection includes a post-apocalyptic drama about two survivors, coming-of-age tales focused on adolescent self-discovery, a fantastical romantic comedy, a tender fable about a boy and a mermaid, the aforementioned hit about a hired assassin, and more.
Six studios contributed to the adaptations: ZEXCS, Lapin Track, GRAPH77, 100studio, Studio Kafka, and P.A.WORKS. Seven directors are involved in the project, including Tetsuaki Watanabe (Blue Lock), Nobuyuki Takeuchi (How to Watch Fireworks?), and Kazuaki Terasawa (The Witch’s Bride).
The anthology will premiere on Prime Video on November 8.
