Ship of Heroes Sci-Fi MMORPG Closing After One Year

After many years in development, the MMORPG ultimately failed to establish a foothold in the market.

In September of last year, studio Heroic Games Corporation released Ship of Heroes, a sci-fi MMORPG featuring superheroes and magic.

Players were invited to create their own unique avatars and set out on adventures to fight enemies, team up with other heroes, and trade.

Ship of Heroes received mostly negative reviews on Steam, as players expressed deep dissatisfaction with the quality of the MMORPG and the requirement for a subscription. Peak concurrent players reached only 100 at launch, and lately, concurrent player counts have hovered between 1 and 3 users.

Ultimately, the developers of Ship of Heroes decided to shut down the project, which had been in the works for approximately nine years:

Ship of Heroes servers will cease operations on September 22, 2026, on the first anniversary of the game’s release. On that day, we will shut down the servers and access to the game will be closed. We are grateful to our friendly community, which helped guide the development of the project: players participated in more than 220 polls, left feedback during free public events and testing of new features, and contributed on the forum.

The Ship of Heroes store page on Steam is available via the following link. At the time of publication, the game has not been pulled from sale.
