Shift Up Head Apologizes for AI-Generated Stellar Blade Blood Rain Clip

The developers intend to win back player trust.

The debut trailer for Stellar Blade: Blood Rain drew a lot of attention to the project. However, the developers soon found themselves at the epicenter of a public relations scandal. Shift Up suddenly published a music video featuring the main protagonist, but the video was created using artificial intelligence.

As a result, the creators of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain faced backlash from opponents of artificial intelligence. The new game was quickly labeled as “AI slop,” and some users decided that the game itself would also be generated.

At Tokyo Game Show 2026, Shift Up head Hyung-Tae Kim gave an interview and apologized for the AI-generated video. He explained that the clip was part of experiments with artificial intelligence technologies:

As part of AI Labs, we conducted experiments and research related to various ways of using AI. We felt that the result turned out quite good, and as a result, we released what should have remained within the scope of an experiment as “official content.” The game is not even out yet, and players saw such experimental materials on the official channels. It seems this disappointed them. I am truly sorry that we failed to properly separate our main content from our internal experiments.

Hyung-Tae Kim stated that Shift Up plans to draw players back to the project. The developers intend to showcase gameplay from Stellar Blade: Blood Rain:

I apologize to everyone who disliked this content. Moving forward, I want to provide players with high-quality gaming content. Ultimately, we believe that demonstrating pure gameplay is our core value, so we will attract players specifically through gameplay.

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain does not yet have a specific release date or launch window. The studio does not plan to abandon artificial intelligence, but Shift Up will now separate its experiments from its main content.
