Set Photos From The People v. Gorilla Grodd Hint at King Solovar Appearance
Other intelligent gorillas from DC Comics may appear in the Superman spin-off.
The first set photos from the series “Peoples v. Gorilla Grodd” recently appeared online. Users initially thought the gorilla captured on set was Grodd himself, but comic book fans pointed out its costume. According to them, it almost entirely mirrors the look of King Solovar, another intelligent gorilla from the “Tom Strong” series by Alan Moore and Chris Sprouse.
Some fans suggested that King Solovar could be part of Jimmy Olsen’s documentary investigation or appear in reconstructions of events from Grodd’s life. The show’s creators have not yet confirmed the character’s involvement, so the costume similarity might be a simple coincidence.

“Peoples v. Gorilla Grodd” will be an eight-episode mockumentary comedy. Daily Planet journalist Jimmy Olsen undertakes an investigation to find out whether Gorilla Grodd was justly convicted of murdering his own father.
Skyler Gisondo will return to the role of Olsen, and Jimmy Tatro will play Grodd. The Daily Planet staff will also feature Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Michaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.
The showrunners are Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the creators of “American Vandal”. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
