Not every hero may survive the events of “Judgment Day.”
Actor Sebastian Stan, known for portraying Bucky Barnes, dropped a grim hint about the upcoming film Avengers: Judgment Day. Speaking at Tokyo Comic-Con 2025, he gave an evasive answer when asked about the fate of Marvel’s heroes: “I can’t say much… We’ll see who survives and who doesn’t.”
That remark immediately intensified fan speculation about potential casualties in Avengers: Judgment Day, which directors Anthony and Joe Russo have called “the most ambitious event in the MCU.”
Many fans speculate that Bucky Barnes could be among those lost. With rumors swirling about Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers, some believe Bucky might make the ultimate sacrifice for his friend. Other names frequently mentioned as possible casualties include Thor, Loki and Professor X — the latter set to be reprised by Patrick Stewart.
Stan himself has previously hinted that his Marvel arc may be drawing to a close, noting that the franchise helped him “grow as an actor” and that he is now seeking new opportunities. Those comments only fueled fan theories that his character might not make it to Secret Wars.
Avengers: Judgment Day is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026. The film will serve as the capstone of Phase Six of the MCU and reportedly brings together 27 actors, including Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu and James Marsden, though Marvel intends to keep the full cast under wraps until the release.
