Rumor: Netflix Preparing Offer to Buy Warner Bros. Discovery and WB Games
Recent reports indicate that Netflix is preparing to submit an offer to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery’s studio operations, including its global WB Games division.
Three years after the merger, Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly being put on the market again, and Netflix is said to be pursuing the company’s television, film and gaming production units. Potential assets in the deal would include Warner Bros. Television, the studio’s film production arm, DC Studios, HBO and the well-known gaming IP WB Games, responsible for titles such as Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat.
According to Reuters, Netflix has retained investment bank Moelis & Co to evaluate the transaction and examine potential purchase terms. Industry observers note the studio and gaming operations might not be fully folded into Netflix’s platform, given the streamer’s more measured, casual approach to video games.
Neither Netflix nor Warner Bros. Discovery has commented on the reports; both companies have remained silent and details of any transaction have yet to be disclosed.
