Rockstar Reminds GTA 6 Actors Not to Discuss Roles Following Leak

It appears that the actors in Grand Theft Auto VI were not scheduled to be revealed until the game’s release.

Well-known American actor Stephen Root recently stated during an interview with media that he is involved in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Root previously appeared in No Country for Old Men and Barry. In Grand Theft Auto VI, he has been cast as Brian Heder. The developers describe the character as an illegal goods trader who “moves cargo through his boat station alongside his third wife, Lori, but now has others do the dirty work for him.”

Players initially speculated that Stephen Root violated his non-disclosure agreement, as developers typically keep information about actor involvement under wraps until release. It appears that the announcement was indeed not coordinated in advance with Rockstar Games, as reports have emerged that the game’s creators have begun sending out letters reminding cast members of their NDA expiration dates.

Members of the GTAvice community drew attention to an episode of the GTA VI O’Clock podcast. Host James Jarvis stated that Rockstar Games sent letters to the actors who worked on Grand Theft Auto VI to remind them of the NDA:

According to the GTA VI O’Clock host, this notification means that players should not expect behind-the-scenes features about the actors before the game’s release.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, currently only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. However, thanks to a leak, PC gamers were able to get a version of “GTA VI at home” and are now exploring an older map version from the new installment of the franchise.
