Resident Evil Star Replaces Expedition 33’s Jennifer English in Upcoming RPG
Tides of Annihilation, an upcoming action RPG steeped in dark Arthurian mythos, appears to have secured its new protagonist following a recent casting shakeup. The role was originally slated for celebrated voice actress Jennifer English (renowned for her performances in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33), before developer Eclipse Glow Games revealed in July that English had stepped down to prioritize personal health matters.
Stepping into the vanguard is Angela Sant’Albano, widely acclaimed for her breakout portrayal of Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem—a title that rapidly emerged as a frontrunner for 2026’s Game of the Year honors. Reflecting on her breakthrough earlier this year, Sant’Albano emphasized her desire to portray relatable vulnerability, noting: “I want people who haven’t seen themselves as a hero look to Grace and finally be able to think ‘Wow, that’s me.’ We all have a monster in our life in one way or another, even if it’s not a zombie chasing us down a hallway.”

The revelation surfaced organically across social media alongside freshly surfaced gameplay footage, widely suspected to be preview build material prepared for Gamescom. Motion-capture artist Jennifer Prime shared a sequence detailing environmental aesthetics, character customization, and boss combat. In the replies, when an observant fan inquired whether the voice belonged to Grace Ashcroft’s performer, Prime confirmed the news directly.
While Eclipse Glow Games has yet to publish an official press statement regarding the recasting, the studio previously affirmed that English remains attached to the production in a creative advisory capacity.
Aesthetically blending the grueling combat philosophy of a Soulslike with the cinematic grandeur of Final Fantasy XVI, Tides of Annihilation charts the journey of Gwendolyn as she navigates the shattered ruins of a post-apocalyptic London. Searching for both the mythical Holy Grail and her missing sister, she is forced to confront corrupted iterations of Arthurian legend. The title remains without a definitive launch date but is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC.
