Resident Evil grossed $400 million

Zach Cregger’s fresh cinematic adaptation of the iconic video game franchise «Resident Evil» has officially surpassed the $400 million milestone at the global box office, according to Variety.

Released in September, the feature pulled in $157.4 million domestically alongside an impressive $242.6 million from international markets. Although Sony Pictures did not give the movie an official theatrical release in Russia, alternative screenings still managed to generate roughly 421 million rubles.

Austin Abrams («Euphoria») leads the cast as courier Brian, tasked with delivering a crucial anti-virus serum across the perilous landscape of Raccoon City.

Cregger co-penned the screenplay alongside Shay Hatten («John Wick»). The reboot has also garnered widespread critical acclaim, boasting an impressive 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The digital release is scheduled for later this week on November 3rd.
