James Gunn to Introduce the New Batman
James Gunn has announced that auditions for the role of Batman in the revamped DC Universe will kick off shortly. At the same time, the head of DC Studios debunked rumors suggesting that an actor has already been cast or is secretly preparing for a cameo in an upcoming project. According to the filmmaker, the studio has not yet begun searching for the right candidate.
Gunn also outlined the criteria he plans to use when selecting the new Bruce Wayne. Unlike previous adaptations that frequently favored prominent Hollywood A-listers, his primary goal is to find the absolute best fit for the part. Furthermore, a minor appearance by an actor in another DC project will not disqualify them from landing the iconic lead role.
Age is another crucial factor: the new Batman needs to be roughly the same age as David Corenswet’s Superman. Gunn described the characters as future close friends and contemporaries, meaning there will be no significant age gap between them.
The fresh iteration of the Dark Knight will debut in “The Brave and the Bold,” which focuses on Batman and his son Damian Wayne, who takes on the mantle of Robin. The film will be directed by Andy Muschietti with a screenplay penned by Christina Hodson. This project will form part of the primary DC Universe continuity, existing entirely separate from Matt Reeves’ films starring Robert Pattinson.
