Netflix is developing a TV series based on PUBG
Streaming giant Netflix has officially greenlit a live-action series adaptation of the iconic video game PUBG: Battlegrounds, according to Deadline.
Donald Glover—acclaimed for his work on “Community,” “Atlanta,” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”—is set to star, direct, write, and executive produce the project. He will be joined by his brother and frequent collaborator, Stephen Glover.
PUBG (short for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) was launched by the South Korean company Krafton on Steam back in 2017. The game’s premise drops over 100 players onto a remote island where they must scavenge for weapons and outlast their rivals in a relentless fight for survival.
In addition to this project, Netflix is currently expanding its gaming footprint with adaptations of Assassin’s Creed, Gears of War starring Dave Bautista, and several other titles.
