Resident Evil: Veronica Remake Reveal

Capcom has officially unveiled Resident Evil: Veronica, a highly anticipated ground-up remake of the cult classic Code: Veronica. Slated for release next year, the title is expected to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The announcement, which took center stage during today’s Summer Game Fest, continues Capcom’s impressive momentum following the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4 remake.

While the original Code: Veronica arrived in the year 2000 as a pivotal bridge between the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3, it has long been a top request for the modern remake treatment. Given Capcom’s recent string of successes in reinventing its survival horror library, this project feels like a natural evolution for the series. Based on the debut footage, the studio is once again delivering stunning visual fidelity that pushes the RE Engine to its limits.

The gameplay narrative appears to honor the roots of the original, chronicling Claire Redfield’s desperate mission to Paris. Her infiltration of an Umbrella Corporation facility in search of her brother, Chris, quickly spirals into the quintessential, high-stakes survival horror experience fans expect from the franchise.

Resident Evil: Veronica is currently scheduled for launch sometime in 2027.
