Resident Evil 4 Modders Reveal Cut Ashley Prologue in Remake

Resident Evil 4 Modders Reveal Cut Ashley Prologue in Remake

Not every creative vision conceived during development survived until the final release.

At one point in the development of the Resident Evil 4 remake, the team intended to feature a playable prologue starring Ashley Graham.

Although this segment was ultimately excised from the retail version, remnants of the scrapped content remained buried within the game’s files. By analyzing these data fragments, modders have successfully managed to reconstruct a portion of this lost introduction.

This “Chapter 0” was designed to follow Ashley as she navigated the outskirts of the village prior to the main events of the story.

Certain legacy animation triggers still function within the code; for instance, Ashley will spontaneously break into a panicked run at specific points. However, a full exploration of the area is currently impossible, as the environment is tethered to cutscene triggers that cause the game to crash upon activation.
