Resident Evil 0 Remake in Development, First Story Details Revealed — Media

It appears Capcom is indeed returning to Resident Evil 0 and planning a substantial overhaul of the game.

Rumors about a Resident Evil 0 remake have resurfaced recently. This time the information came not from a community “insider” but from journalists at mp1st.

According to their report, Resident Evil 0: Remake has been in development for several years under the codename “Chamber” (an obvious nod to protagonist Rebecca Chambers).

Actor John MacLaren may have joined the project — he previously worked on the Guardians of the Galaxy game as Star-Lord. His résumé reportedly lists “Project Chamber,” and he is believed to be attached to the role of Billy Coen.

Sources also indicate that Beyond Capture Studios, a motion-capture company that previously collaborated with Capcom on the Resident Evil 4 remake and Street Fighter 6, is involved in the remake’s production.

The remake is expected to expand the original material while preserving the core narrative.

One of the new story threads will focus on the opening train sequence — specifically the conductor. In the remake his role will be somewhat more prominent:

“In one scene he asks Rebecca to help stop the train from accelerating, but ultimately betrays her — locking her in with a horde of zombies so he can flee. After that we don’t see him again until a later area of the game, where Rebecca discovers him interacting with another mysterious, unnamed figure who seems to be aware of the wider situation and clearly plays an important role in the plot.”
